The last couple of Sundays, I’ve talked a lot about prayer. When you boil prayer down to its essence, it is communication with God. It’s important to both talk and listen to God. I think a lot of times people limit prayer to talking to God, which can sometimes amount to telling Him what we want Him to do. It is absolutely essential to allow God to speak into our lives.
We’ve talked about how there are many ways God speaks. He speaks through people and situations, but one of the clearest ways He speaks is through His Word. It is the canon (standard) by which we need to measure all the other voices that come into our lives.
Christmas is the time that we celebrate God speaking very clearly through His Son.
“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son.” – Hebrews 1:1-2
He is the WORD made FLESH. (John 1:14) He is the very embodiment of EVERYTHING the Father wants to say to us. In communication, the medium (how a message is delivered) is just as important as the message itself.
This Christmas I encourage you to wrap your heart and soul around not only the message of Christmas, but HOW that message was delivered…
We’ll talk more specifically about that over the next couple of weeks.
Have a very merry CHRISTmas and may you allow the Christ child to be born in NEW ways in your life this season.
